Bulloch County voters approved the renewal of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) on November 6th. SPLOST, which has been approved by voters since the 1980s, will continue to fund community improvements through 2025. Projects for the upcoming SPLOST include: upgrading the public safety radio system; expansion of the Bulloch County Jail; purchasing equipment and upgrades for public safety and recreation facilities; and solid waste improvements.
Until October 2018, the County’s sales tax was 7 percent, but voters approved a Transportation Special Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) in May 2018 that added an eighth penny to the sales tax. TSPLOST funds will be used for road improvements and other transportation needs.
