The Bulloch County Board of Commissioners adopted an Occupation Tax for businesses in the unincorporated area of Bulloch County on April 20, 2010. Individuals engaged in any business, trade, profession or occupation within the unincorporated area of Bulloch County, are now required to obtain an Occupational Tax Certificate by July 31st. This is separate from other regulatory guidelines that may be required prior to opening a business within the County (e.g., alcohol license or other state issued licenses). The County will send the Occupational Tax Certificate by mail within 2 business days, once all the required information is submitted and approved.
Required Information
- Submit application to the Developmental Services Division. Photo ID required for original application.
- Submit Affidavit Verifying Status For County Public Benefit Application.
- Submit the Sheriff Contact Information form.
- Pay Occupational Tax – $125. Check and cash only.

Renewal
Certificates expire July 1st of each year and must be renewed by July 31st to remain current and avoid any penalties. Renewal notices will be sent out each June.
If you do not operate a business in the unincorporated area of Bulloch County or if the business will not be in operation after July 1st, please contact the Bulloch County zoning office so that our records can be updated.
