BULLOCH COUNTY JAIL

DEPUTY – JAIL

FULL-TIME 

POSITION STATUS: OPEN – ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS 

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for a Deputy-Jail (Grade 12) to be assigned to the Jail Division.  Duties include initial intake, screening, and searching of prisoners upon arrival at the Bulloch County Jail, supervision of inmates during their term of incarceration, transfer of inmates to medical facilities and back, and processing of release/bonding paperwork for inmates being released from custody.  Deputies work under direct supervision of a Sergeant-Jail.

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer and seeks to hire the most qualified candidates for the open positions.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license, possess an Honorable Discharge if having prior military service, be a US citizen or naturalized citizen with proper documentation, and have no adverse criminal or driving record, specifically felony convictions or convictions for family violence acts. The applicant can have no drug usage within the past 12 months, no prior DUI convictions, and must be able to obtain POST certification within six months.

The hiring process includes but is not limited to the following: intensive background investigation, interview board, computerized voice stress examination, and following a conditional job offer, physical abilities test, medical examination, and drug screen. The entire selection process takes approximately 30 days from the start of the selection process.

The position is shift work with nights, weekends, and holidays required.  Base pay is $12.28 per hour working an 85.5 hour pay period.  Benefits package included.

E-911/PUBLIC SAFETY

COMMUNICATION OFFICER

FULL-TIME

POSITION STATUS: CLOSED – NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

This position is responsible for a variety of clerical duties associated with radio dispatching.  Duties include receiving and dispatching phone calls, maintaining a log of calls, typing forms, computer data entry, and filing.  Applicant must have a good clear speaking voice.  This is a fast pace and stressful environment where multi-tasking is a required.  Work is performed under the direction of the 911 Director.

Applicant must be 21 years of age.  High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screens are required. State certification, EMD certification and CPR certification is required within 6 months of employment.

This is shift work and nights, weekends, and holiday work is required.

TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT 

CORRECTIONAL OFFICER – WORK DETAIL (2 Positions)

 FULL-TIME

POSITION STATUS: OPEN – ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

This position is responsible for supervising inmates involved in right-of-way maintenance on county roads. The duties of this position are varied; serving as a hand labor detail performing various duties including but not limited to picking up litter, maintaining drainage systems, clearing of vegetation (trees, limbs, weeds, grass, etc.).  This position exercises supervisory control over inmates.  Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia, the ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license, and the ability to obtain P.O.S.T. Certification for Corrections Officers (CO) by the Georgia Department of Corrections within 6 months of hire date. P.O.S.T. Correctional Officer Certification is preferred. Certified Correctional Officers will be hired starting at $11.91 an hour.

Drug screening, background check, and driving history are required prior to hire.

Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks & Recreation

Equipment Operator

Full-Time

Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for an equipment operator. This person will operate equipment including mowers, tractors, dump truck, and small engine equipment to maintain all parks and grounds areas to standards, performs facility maintenance including trash pickup removal, blowing asphalt and concrete areas off, leaf removal, etc. Knowledge of and skill in equipment operation, including 3-gang 5-gang reel mower and all attachments, dump truck, tractor/ bucket, chemical sprayers, and hand tools.  Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain CDL if doesn’t currently have one.  Applications may be picked up at the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department (Honey Bowen Building), 1 Max Lockwood Drive, Statesboro.
