BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (FT)
Department/Division: General Government Buildings
Position: To Be Determined (1 Position Available)
Status: Accepting Applications
This position is responsible for general maintenance and basic repairs at Bulloch County buildings and facilities. Duties will include basic HVAC maintenance; basic electrical repair work; building envelope inspections, to include roofs, gutters, windows, etc.; maintenance and repairs of plumbing, water fountains, and water heaters; basic rough and finished carpentry work; and painting/staining/sealing various surfaces. Candidate must be skilled in the operation of hand tools and power tools and able to read and interpret plans, technical manuals, and/or drawings. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with five (5) years’ experience in carpentry and general maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. A valid Georgia driver’s license with an acceptable driving history is required. Minimum starting pay is $15.07 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


CORRECTIONS SERGEANT, DETAIL SUPERVISOR (FT)
Department/Division: Correctional Institute (Position: 1219)
Status: Closed
This position is responsible for supervising Corrections Officers performing security and work functions on a shift at Bulloch County Correctional Institute. The incumbent will supervise staff, including coordination, assignment and review of work; maintain standards for employee performance, employee/inmate safety, and facility security; and, at times, oversee and coordinate the functions of inmate work details. Position requires a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by three years of experience as a Corrections Officer. (An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.) A valid Georgia driver’s license with an acceptable driving history is required, as is a Correctional Officer certification from Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). $17.25 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


 

E-911 COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (PT) 
Department/Division: E-911 (Positions: 9070)
Status: Accepting Applications
These positions are responsible for providing dispatch and support services to law enforcement, fire and emergency medical personnel. Duties include receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, entering call information into CAD system, providing instructions to callers, and dispatching appropriate personnel. High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in customer service or emergency communications required. Candidates must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and satisfactory driving and criminal history records. Candidates must obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification, telecommunications officer certification, and CPR certification within 6 months of employment. Minimum starting pay of $15.07 per hour. Positions will require day, night and weekend schedules. Positions will be open until filled.


FIREFIGHTER (FT)
5 Positions Available
Department/Division: Fire
Status: Accepting Applications
This position is responsible for responding to various emergency situations, including fires, accidents, and medical emergencies. Duties will include fire suppression, ventilation, and search/rescue, as well as cleaning/inspection of equipment, data entry, routine maintenance/repair, and community outreach. A high school diploma or GED is required, as is a valid Class F (or equivalent) Georgia driver’s license. A post-offer physical agility test and medical clearance will be required. Incumbents in these positions will work a “24 on/48 off” schedule to provide round-the-clock coverage and response. Minimum starting pay is $12.47 per hour. Note to applicants: Only candidates with a current Firefighter I (or higher) certification will be considered. Please submit a copy of current certification with application.


FLEET MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (FT)
Department/Division: Public Works/Fleet (Position: 1342)

This position is responsible for servicing and repairing vehicles and equipment owned by Bulloch County. Incumbents will operate or use various types of machinery, equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies to complete work assignments, which will include vehicle and equipment inspections (safety, performance, emissions), preventive maintenance (refueling, greasing, checking fluids, replacing parts), repairs (diagnosing, troubleshooting, ordering parts, performing repair work), and general cleaning of equipment and shop areas. Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by relevant vocational/technical training and three years experience in automotive maintenance and repair. Equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. A valid Georgia driver’s license with an acceptable driving history is required. Minimum starting pay is $16.29 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


FLEET MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (FT)
Department/Division: Recreation/Parks & Grounds (Position: 1377)

HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II (FT)
Department/Division: Public Works/Roads (Position: 1313)
Status: Accepting Applications
This position is responsible for operating vehicles and equipment to complete assigned work. Candidates must be able to operate backhoes, loaders, and similar equipment used for road maintenance and emergency response.  This is the second level of a multiple level series and requires operation of equipment and vehicles requiring a higher level of skills to drive and maneuver. Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by two years’ experience in heavy equipment operations. A valid Georgia driver’s license (Class A CDL strongly preferred) with an acceptable driving history is required. $15.68 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II/WORK DETAIL SUPERVISOR (FT)
Department/Division: Public Works/Roads (Position: 1308)
Status: Accepting Applications
This position oversees the safety and security of inmates assigned to work detail involving the operation of vehicles and specialized equipment to support maintenance and construction projects. Candidates must be able to operate backhoes, loaders, and similar equipment. Incumbents are regularly assigned inmate workers and will be responsible for their supervision, productivity, and safety.  Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by two years’ experience in heavy equipment operations. A valid Georgia driver’s license (Class A CDL strongly preferred) with an acceptable driving history is required. $16.29 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR III (FT)
Department/Division: Public Works/Roads (Position: 1306 and 1311)
Status: Accepting Applications
This position is responsible for operating vehicles and equipment with specialized functions related to public works maintenance and construction activities. Candidates must have skill and experience in the operation and daily inspection of equipment such as backhoes, loaders, bulldozers, graders, excavators and similar equipment, and will perform equipment operation tasks to support construction and maintenance of roads, rights-of-way and other infrastructure. Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by a minimum of three years’ experience in heavy equipment operations. A valid Georgia driver’s license (Class A CDL strongly preferred) with an acceptable driving history is required. Minimum starting pay is $16.29 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER SR (FT)
Department/Division: Recreation/Parks & Grounds (Position: 1387)
Status: Accepting Applications
This position is responsible for maintaining and preparing athletic fields and parks throughout Bulloch County. Candidates will assist in preparing and laying out fields; mowing, grading, raking, and assisting with irrigation; performing field renovations; maintaining playground equipment; and performing routine maintenance on equipment. Duties may include operation of equipment such as mowers, line trimmers, tractors, and blowers as well as pulling string lines, moving bases, preparing clay infields and painting/chalking field lines. Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by a minimum of one year experience in parks maintenance or similar work. A valid Georgia driver’s license with an acceptable driving history is required. Minimum starting pay is $12.64 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


PROBATION OFFICER (FT)
Department/Division: Adult Probation (Position: 1240)
Status: Accepting Applications
This position enforces sentencing of probation ordered by State Court and involves surveillance, counseling, and coordinating resources to assist probationers. Duties will include processing intakes; counseling; participating in court and court-related activities; investigating/addressing probationer non-compliance; and receiving/processing fines, fees, and restitution. The position requires communication with probationers, attorneys, judges, rehabilitative programs, and other community resources. A Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Counseling or a related field, supplemented by one year of experience in criminal justice case management (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) required. A valid Georgia driver’s license with an acceptable driving history is required, as is a P.O.S.T. certification. (Note – Under State of Georgia requirements, to be employed in this position, the incoming employee must be at least 21 years of age and have completed one of the following: 2 years of college from an accredited institution or 4 years of law enforcement experience as a certified peace officer.)  Minimum starting pay is $17.50 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


TAX/TAG SPECIALIST I (FT)
Department/Division: Tax Commissioner (Position: 1025)
Status: Closed
This position is responsible for performing tasks associated with motor vehicle titles, registrations, insurance compliance, ad valorem taxes and sales tax collections. Duties include examining and approving documents; calculating, processing and collecting taxes and fees; preparing reports, forms and other documents; and responding to questions. Must be able to function well in a high-stress environment with constant customer interaction. High school diploma or GED required, along with a valid driver’s license and the ability to be bonded and obtain security access. Two years’ experience in a clerical, data entry and/or bookkeeping role preferred. $13.25 per hour. Position will be open until filled.


TRUCK DRIVER II (FT)
Department/Division: Public Works/Solid Waste (Position: 1333)
Status: Accepting Applications
This position is responsible for driving/operating dump trucks and other equipment for roads projects or sanitation activities as assigned. Candidates must be able to drive/operate a variety of larger and specialized vehicles, including dump trucks, roll-off trucks, grapple trucks, and front- and rear-loading vehicles. Duties will include hauling materials, collecting waste, inspecting vehicles for safe operating conditions, and performing manual labor in support of assigned projects. Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by at least two years of experience driving and operating large trucks/equipment. A valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with acceptable driving history, is required. Minimum starting pay is $13.25 per hour. Position will be open until filled.
