Fire Chief
The Bulloch County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for a Full-Time Fire Chief. This position is responsible for the administrative and executive supervision of the day-to-day activities of the County Fire Department, including providing direct supervision over career and reservist fire fighters and staff, training, hiring, and firing of Fire personnel, and performing public relations functions for developing the long-term policies and goals for this department; and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory authorities. This position will encompass financial administration and operations management of the department. This position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, and the employee is subject to emergency recall while off duty. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Safety Director. A high school diploma or GED is required; a degree from a technical or junior (2 year) college is preferred but not necessarily required. The nature and extent of applicants’ prior work experience will be given due consideration; provided, however, that a minimum of five to ten (5-10) years’ experience in a related position is required. The successful applicant must have Georgia State Firefighter Certification and a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle(s) required by the position.
