CORRECTIONAL OFFICER – WORK DETAIL (2 Positions) – FULL-TIME

 TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

POSITION STATUS: OPEN-ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS & INTERVIEWING 

This position is responsible for supervising inmates involved in right-of-way maintenance on county roads. The duties of this position are varied; serving as a hand labor detail performing various duties including but not limited to picking up litter, maintaining drainage systems, clearing of vegetation (trees, limbs, weeds, grass, etc.).  This position exercises supervisory control over inmates.  Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia, the ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license, and the ability to obtain P.O.S.T. Certification for Corrections Officers (CO) by the Georgia Department of Corrections within 6 months of hire date. P.O.S.T. Correctional Officer Certification is preferred. Certified Correctional Officers will be hired at $11.91 an hour.

Drug screening, background check, and driving history are required prior to hire.

The Bulloch County Probation Department is accepting applications for a Full-Time Probation Officer.  This position is responsible for the supervision of offenders adjudicated guilty by the State Court in Bulloch County through surveillance, counseling, and coordination of rehabilitative and community resources to assist probationers in successfully completely their probation.

Responsibilities and duties include attending court calendar calls; compiling case materials for processing; conducting initial interviews with individuals assigned to a probationary status; establishing reporting schedules; counseling with probationers regarding employment, job skills, non-violent problem solving techniques and related issues; and investigating probationers who violate conditions of probation and makes recommendations to the court regarding probation revocation.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of applicable state, federal and local laws, rules and regulations; knowledge in court operations and procedures; skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines; and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and ability to deal effectively with the public.

Applicants must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment, have completed a standard two-year college course of study (90 quarter hours/60 semester hours) or have four years of law enforcement experience. L.E. (Law Enforcement) P.O.S.T. Certification is preferred.

The Bulloch County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the position of Airport Manager.  This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Airport.  In performing daily tasks, the employee applies knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory and funding processes, aircraft operational requirements, real estate management and maintenance practices, methods of promotion, marketing, and sales of airport goods and services, wholesale buying techniques, safety practices and procedures, and personnel management practices. The employee is a County Department Head, reporting to the Transportation Director for personnel and other County policy matters.  The employee primarily works independently and under the general supervision of the Transportation Director for technical advice and assistance.

WATER AEROBICS INSTRUCTOR

 Splash in the Boro is looking for an energetic outgoing individual to teach a variation of water aerobics classes Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30p-8:15p.  All applicants must have previous experience teaching aerobics either on dry land or in the water.
