 BUILDING INSPECTOR – CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

Bulloch County’s Building & Zoning Department is accepting applications for a Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer. This position performs a variety of routine and complex technical work in building inspection work to insure that uniform building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, energy conservation, and other codes and standards are met. This position is also responsible for enforcing state and local codes and ordinances duties in a backup capacity, performing technical work to ensure that all codes and ordinances are adhered to throughout the County.

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or a G.E.D. and two (2) years experience related to inspection, law enforcement, building inspection, land use, public administration, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.

Pay range is $15.19-18.98 an hour depending on experience.

STATESBOREO- BULLOCH COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION

 EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for an Equipment Operator. This position is responsible for maintaining athletic fields, park areas, and facilities according to the directions of the Parks Supervisor.  The candidate must be able to operate equipment including mowers, tractors, dump trucks, and small engine equipment to maintain all parks and grounds areas.

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or a G.E.D. and have one to three years of relevant experience.

Must have a driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia, and have or be able to obtain a CDL issued by the State of Georgia.

The Elections Department is accepting applications for two (2) Elections Assistants.  This position performs carried clerical/technical duties related to the administration of elections and voter registration to ensure that all local, state, and federal laws are observed.

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or a G.E.D.;  additional coursework in business or accounting; one (1) year experience in general office work; one (1) year of working in an elections or voter registration office is preferred; or any combination of training and experience.

Hourly pay is $8.50 an hour.

LANDSCAPE SUPERVISOR

FULL-TIME

POSITION STATUS: OPEN – ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for a Landscape Supervisor. This position is responsible for directing, supervising, and carrying out all landscaping needs in the landscape beds for the Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department and in conjunction with other county maintained buildings. This position supervises/evaluates assigned staff (including 2-5 part-time staff members and community service workers), handles employee concerns, directs work assignments, counsels and disciplines employees when necessary, and completes employee performance appraisals.

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or a G.E.D.; five (5) years of related work experience specific to landscaping, with one (1) year of supervisory experience, preferred.

A certificate in horticulture or a closely related field is preferred.

Must have a driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia, and have or be able to obtain a CDL issued by the State of Georgia.

Pay range is $13.76-$15.48 depending on experience.

The Bulloch County Animal Shelter is hiring a full-time Animal Shelter Attendant.  This position is responsible for assisting the Animal Shelter Manager at the Bulloch County Animal Shelter. Public Safety Department

Animal Control Officer

Full-Time Position

POSITION STATUS: CLOSED – POSITION FILLED 

This position is responsible for enforcement of the animal control laws of Bulloch County; capturing stray, nuisance, and dangerous animals; working with the Animal Shelter; and providing aid, through transportation to a veterinarian, to injured animals.  Applicants must have knowledge of county geography and road system, knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and policies and knowledge and skill in the physical handling of animals.

TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

CORRECTIONAL OFFICER – WORK DETAIL

This position is responsible for supervising inmates involved in right-of-way maintenance on county roads. The duties of this position are varied; serving as a hand labor detail performing various duties including but not limited to picking up litter, maintaining drainage systems, clearing of vegetation. This position exercises supervisory control over inmates.  Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent; a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia, and be P.O.S.T. Certified for Corrections Officers (CO). Certified Correctional Officers will be hired starting at $11.91 an hour.

BULLOCH COUNTY JAIL

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for a Deputy-Jail (Grade 12) to be assigned to the Jail Division.  Duties include initial intake, screening, and searching of prisoners upon arrival at the Bulloch County Jail, supervision of inmates during their term of incarceration, transfer of inmates to medical facilities and back, and processing of release/bonding paperwork for inmates being released from custody.  Deputies work under direct supervision of a Sergeant-Jail.

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer and seeks to hire the most qualified candidates for the open positions.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license, possess an Honorable Discharge if having prior military service, be a US citizen or naturalized citizen with proper documentation, and have no adverse criminal or driving record, specifically felony convictions or convictions for family violence acts. The applicant can have no drug usage within the past 12 months, no prior DUI convictions, and must be able to obtain POST certification within six months.

The hiring process includes but is not limited to the following: intensive background investigation, interview board, computerized voice stress examination, and following a conditional job offer, physical abilities test, medical examination, and drug screen. The entire selection process takes approximately 30 days from the start of the selection process.

The position is shift work with nights, weekends, and holidays required.  Base pay is $12.28 per hour working an 85.5 hour pay period.  Benefits package included.

This position is responsible for a variety of clerical duties associated with radio dispatching.  Duties include receiving and dispatching phone calls, maintaining a log of calls, typing forms, computer data entry, and filing.  Applicant must have a good clear speaking voice.  This is a fast pace and stressful environment where multi-tasking is a required.  Work is performed under the direction of the 911 Director.

Applicant must be 21 years of age.  High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screens are required. State certification, EMD certification and CPR certification is required within 6 months of employment.

This is shift work and nights, weekends, and holiday work is required.
