Robert Rushing is a Bulloch County native. He was born at Bulloch County Hospital in 1944 and other than his time away at school and the Military, has spent his entire life in Bulloch County.
Mr. Rushing graduated from Georgia Military College High School in 1962 and from Georgia Military Junior College in 1964. He obtained a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Georgia Southern College in 1967. From 1967 to 1970, Mr. Rushing served as a captain in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, where he spent his foreign service in Germany and Korea.
Mr. Rushing was the first fire chief of the Register Bulloch County Rural Fire Department. He is a member of the 1987 charter class of Leadership Bulloch. He served eight years as Mayor Pro Tem on the Register Town Council, twelve years on the Bulloch County Board of Education, and nine years on the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service County Committee.
Mr. Rushing is a member of the Register Baptist Church. He has three daughters and six grandchildren. Mr. Rushing describes himself as a semi-retired farmer, but in his free time he enjoys fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
