Flood Risk Information Open House – October 15th – 5:00PM – County Commission Meeting Room
Bulloch County, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), have completed an enhanced Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) for Bulloch County and all its municipalities including: Brooklet, Portal, Register, and Statesboro. This FIS includes charts and a narrative report of local flooding to be used by permit officials for development in the floodplain. The enhanced FIS and its preliminary DFIRM was presented during an Open House for the public, held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room located at 115 North Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458. During the Open House, representatives from local government, DNR and FEMA provided the most current information regarding Bulloch County’s flood risk, flood insurance, floodplain development regulations, floodplain mapping, and timeline for DFIRM adoption. The enhanced countywide floodplain maps was displayed.
