Construction Requirements in the Floodplain
Unnumbered A Zones – No Base Flood Elevation Established
1. Flood certificates (2 required)
a) Finished floor
b) Prior to Certificate of Occupancy
2. Habitable finished floor must be 3 feet above the highest adjacent natural grade.
3. Any construction below established elevation for habitable space must be moisture resistant material.
4. Enclosed areas in the flood zone must be hydrostatic vented.
5. Equipment (i.e. A/C unit) and electrical must be at same elevation as finished floor / habitable space.
Numbered A Zones – Base Flood Elevation Established
